OTA TV is changing

As you know, The US is converting over from analog to digital TV on 2-17-2009. I applied for my $40.00 rebate/discount and did arrive in the mail some 4 months later. Cost of the RCA DTA800 device was $49.97 less the $40.00 discount left me paying some $13.47 in change.

The Device

The product made a world of difference, I could best describe going from AM radio to FM radio. I get about the same amount of stations, but now missing a few of he old staple channels. Less Hispanic stations, but did gain a channel similar to TV Land showing old programs like Hawaii Five-O at 10:00pm Sample

Hook Me Up!

The setup was very straight forward and simple, just like hooking up a DVD player or similar device. So far, I'm very happy with the purchase. 

Now Read Instructions??

Now... Turn it on for the first time. 

It was like Shock and Aww!! The stations are like FM also. 26.1, 26.2, ect.  The picture was just plain awesome, viewing the equivalent of HDtv on my 30 inch tv, that I bought some 10 years ago~. I am very impressed to say the least. 

Not Kewl...

The only drawback that I have found was the remote lacking certain functionality like the previous/back button. I will probable look for a different remote later down the line. 

Update 4-20-2008

The sound goes out and have to turn off the box, then turn on and sound is present. I have not done a master reset a described in the on screen menu yet

Update 7-5-2008

1. After using for a few months, the signal is not consistent. In the night, will get 4 channels and the daytime will have 25 channels. have to perform a channel scan to watch TV.
2. Have to 'hard shock' , the box device will not have the amber/green light.. The box will not function and must be power cycled. The box will work again.
3. The sound still cuts out for no reason, as mentioned n the 4-20 update
