EL PASO, Texas -- The space shuttle Endeavour landed at Biggs Army Air Field in El Paso about 10 a.m. Wednesday and took off for its next stop in Fort Worth about two hours later.
The shuttle is on its way back to Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
Endeavour, which is bolted on top of a modified 747, lifted off from Edwards Air Force Base in California about 8 a.m. MST and landed in El Paso at 10:08 a.m, according to FlightAware, a flight tracking Web site.
The shuttle left El Paso at 12:10 p.m. MST Wednesday for the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth, where it's to stay overnight before taking off at sunrise from the base's 12,000-foot runway.
NASA officials said the shuttle is expected to land in Florida Thursday afternoon or possibly Friday as weather conditions allow.
Endeavour touched down at Edwards Air Force Base in California when it returned to earth.
Endeavour was supposed to leave California on Sunday, but the trip was postponed due to a technical delay and bad weather.
The shuttle landed at the California backup site on Nov. 30 after storms hit its main Florida landing site. The cross-country ferry is expected to cost more than $1.8 million.
