The incident, which lasted less than 30 minutes, happened shortly after noon, after the men pulled up to the family's residence on the 7000 block of California Avenue. The men were armed with semiautomatic handguns and wearing ski masks, according to sheriff's spokesman Tom MacKenzie. The 40-year-old owner of the home and his 35-year-old male friend were inside the garage when the robbery happened. The gunmen forced them into the house and tied them up with bandanas. The victim's 36-year-old girlfriend and their four children, who were inside the home, were locked inside a room by the suspects, but unharmed, MacKenzie said. The men then took computers, televisions, jewelry and cash from the home. MacKenzie said the 40-year-old victim was pistol whipped and kicked by the suspects after trying to get a look at them. The men told him not to call law enforcement -- or they would be back to kill his family, MacKenzie said. The suspects are believed to be Latino, between the ages of 20 and 50, wearing dark clothing and black ski masks. Their vehicle is described as a newer, possibly 2005, blue Ford extended cab pickup with tinted rear windows. MacKenzie said the total value of money and property stolen is estimated at just over $10,000. Sheriff's investigators are asking anyone with information about this incident to call (209) 385-7472. -- Victor Patton |
